General Synod Decision - Same Sex Marriages
There has been much confusion this week regarding the vote at General Synod on whether or not to allow same sex marriages in the Anglican Church.
Initially it was reported that the resolution to allow same sex marriages was defeated by 1 vote. The voting records were examined and it was discovered that the resolution did indeed have the required number of votes to pass.
The resolution still needs affirmation by the next General Synod in 2019 before it becomes church law.
When the initial announcement that the resolution had not passed came out, our bishop, Michael Bird issued a statement in support of same sex marriages. You can read his statement here.
Bishop Michael has now issued another statement, reaffirming his commitment to equal marriage. You can read that statement here

Service & Picnic at Kinsmen Park
Don't forget this Sunday, June 26th there will be no services at the church. We are having our service in Kinsmen Park followed by a picnic lunch. Bring your lawn chair and a salad or dessert to share.
